IT governance is an important issue for organisations today. As Weill and Ross (2004) claim, firms with superior IT governance gained profits 25% higher than those with meagre governance, given similar strategic objectives. Furthermore, they also stated that “effective IT governance is the single most important predictor of the value an organization generates from IT”.
Yet, guidance to date from the academic literature to industry on effective IT governance processes is slow in coming and somewhat contradictory. This event is designed to redress this situation.
Mr John Thorp, an internationally sought-after management consultant with 45 years of experience in the information management field and author of “The Information Paradox”, will respond to/comment on specific IT governance processes and issues highlighted by each of five leading academics based on their research into aspects of IT governance.
Other speakers include:
- Mr Tony Hayes, Acting Chief Executive, Public Service Commission
- Acting Professor Fiona Rhodes, UQ Business School
- Dr Al Robb, UQ Business School
- Assistant Professor Keith Hales, Bond University
- Dr Aileen Catr-Steel, USQ
- Dr Rashi Sehgal, Fujitsu Consulting
Date: Friday, 12 September Time: 9am to 12 noon Location: UQ Business School Downtown, 19th Floor, Central Plaza One, 345 Queen Street, Brisbane
