Presentation from Val IT Executive Lunch with John Thorp, Brisbane 11 Sep 2008

The ISACA® Brisbane Chapter would like to thank you for participating in the

Executive Lunch with John Thorp
11 September 2008, 12pm to 2pm
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre Mezzanine Level – M2 Room

to explore “Value Governance, Investment Management and Portfolio Management”.

Significant investment dollars and business opportunities are misguided each year due to poor alignment, oversight and control of information technology (IT). A key lesson is that investment is no longer about implementing IT solutions. It is about implementing business benefits based on IT-enabled change.

The IT Governance Institute® (ITGI™) has addressed this global challenge with the Val IT™ framework Enterprise Value: Governance of IT Investments. Specifically, Val IT™ focuses on the investment decision (are we doing the right things?) and the realisation of benefits (are we getting the benefits).

Mr John Thorp, an internationally sought-after management consultant with 45 years of experience in the information management field and author of “The Information Paradox”, discussed the latest international thinking on addressing the governance challenge. John addresses and advises leaders of some of the world’s largest organizations in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia-Pacific, including Fortune 100 companies.

You may download a pdf of John's presentation at the end of this page.  Additionally, the Brisbane Chapter holds the last 6 remaining copies (in-print globally) of John's acclaimed book "The Information Paradox".  The book retails for $30.  Please email the Chapter President to secure your copy.

We look forward to seeing you at our next event. Regards, Glen McMurtrie ISACA® Brisbane Chapter President GPO Box 2000 Brisbane Qld 4000 president@isaca-brisbane.org
