The 2010 Value Management Forum was another huge success with 110 guests coming together at Customs House to enjoy a gourmet two-course luncheon and discuss this year's theme of “Where Did My Benefits Go?”.
The keynote speaker John Thorp spoke about worldwide trends in value management, the impact of the Global Financial Crisis on management's perceptions of value in ICT-enabled investments and how the difficulty with realising benefits lies in business managers not clearly defining the business problem to be addressed by the ICT-enabled solution. Managers need to stay focused on the business outcomes they want to achieve and not be drawn into often misunderstood ICT language.
Brisbane City Council's Chief Information Officer Nick Brant delivered a case study on how Council delivers value to its customers and ratepayers from its $100M+ annual investment in ICT and lessons they have learned. Nick's slides are pending BCC approval and will be available shortly.
This was followed by a panel discussion involving:
Tony Hayes, Associate-Director General of the Department of Communities and member of ISACA’s International Board of Trustees,
John Thorp;
Jude Munro AO, Chair of the Board of Queensland Urban Utilities and former CEO of the Brisbane City Council; and
Jon Krause, Executive Partner from Gartner Group.
ISACA and ITGI would like to thank the following sponsors for making this event possible.
